    Description

    Packet of 18 photogravure images depicting 1st, 2nd & 3rd class interiors of the United States Lines' S.S. GEORGE WASHINGTON. Formerly the Norddeutscher Lloyd liner of the same name, she was confiscated by the US when they entered the war against Germany, served as a troop transport, transported Woodrow Wilson to and from the Versailles Conference at the conclusion of World War I and sailed for the United States Lines from 1921 - 1931. After being laid up during the Depression, she was again employed as an American transport during World War II. She was broken up in the 1950's.
