    Description

Up for bids is a 8" oval platter from the Peninsular and Occidental SS Co. in their early Cuba pattern.  Of course, this is NOT the same "P&O" of modern times (a British line), but rather the line that mostly ran from
Miami to Key West and Havana
from 1900 until the service ended with the embargo.  This platter dates from between 1900 (when the P&O was established) until WWI at the latest.  This platter shows a fair amount of utensil wear from its years of service and a few "age spots" due to its age.  The logo is strong, but as seems typical of this pattern, the stripes are worn.  This is a great opportunity to get a great piece of early Florida history.
