    Description:
To your consideration tonight a very cute show case piece from
    Italian Line
    's
    First Class
    on board service.
    A square silver plated ashtray having indents for four cigarettes. It measures 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" ( Cm. 11,5 x 11,5 ).
    Distinctive
    Italian Line
crowned logo is very well engraved into the metal in the center of the piece.
    Manufactured by
    Italian Line
    's official silversmiths
    Fratelli Broggi
    of Milano.
This very elegant ashtray started to be used on board with the entering into service of the
    Giulio Cesare
    and
    Augustus
in 1951/52 and continued to be used always in
    First Class
until 1970. After this date you could find it on board but the center logo was modified with the stylized
    Finmare
anchor as happened with the rest of the silverware, glassware, china and linens.
I enclose a few photos were you can see these elegant ashtrays displayed. Photos taken by the most educative book: " Michelangelo-Raffaello - La fine di un'epoca " by S. Bandini & M. Eliseo - Hoepli 2010.
Very fine/excellent condition as evidenced by the attached scans
