There are many historical sites of ancient villages that were occupied by Native American tribes dating back a thousand years. Every year on the first weekend in August there is a re- enactment of the Last Escape of Billy the Kid from the Lincoln County Jail.
Thousands of people show up to relive the history.  There is an excellent school K through 12 in Capitan, New Mexico - which is 12 miles from Lincoln.  The kids are bussed to Capitan.  Good internet service. So you would be able to work from home.
