CGT FRENCH LINE LA PROVENCE DRYDOCK VINTAGE LITHO PHOTO POSTCARD
Up for auction a vintage French postcard in swell shape with a dreamy, atmospheric vision of French Line’s small-for-big twin-stacker La Provence in dry dock at Le Havre. Postally unused 5.5” x 3.5” postcard is in great condition, with only a few penciled-in marks on the reverse. Image is clean and crisp, as typical of these non-halftone litho cards. The big, small liner sits here in the dry dock, propped up by a small forest of timbers, as small groups of people mill about on the grounds, getting a look at the dynamic form of the ship as it undergoes maintenance. In the background off the ship’s starboard side rests what looks like it might be French Line’s La Lorraine, or possibly La Touraine.
