Description
These three posters feature the Fruit Cargo shipSS Fra Berlanga
and the two Matson liners
Argentina
and
Michelangelo
. The first ship is the
SS Fra Berlanga
which was one of the Great White Fleet of the United Fruit Company. I believe the ship was build around 1945 and was literally the "Banana Boat" that brought that fruit to North America. There is a ship with the same name that might be the this ship that brought immigrants from Europe to Argentina shortly after WWII. The two Matson ocean liners are the
Argentina
(seen here off of Manhattan) and the
Michelangelo
seen here at dock (probably also in New York) with late 1950's cars whizzing by. The
Fra Berlanga
poster is 24" x 20". It is in good condition except for a chip out of the left top corner and one light fold in the top margin. I think this print dates to the 1950's. It is signed within the print C.G.EVERS. The other two Matson prints are both signed A Benet. The
Argentina
poster is 18" x 15". It is in very good condition. The
Michelangelo
poster is 22.5" x 15.25". It is in good condition a light margin fold and two small corner folds.
